An annual community event that takes place usually on the second Saturday evening of December on the beach of the Elephant Butte Lake State Park from 5:00-8:00pm. Church at the Butte participates as one of the up to 30 sites sponsored by local businesses, organizations, or individuals. Hundreds of luminarias light the way from the Park entrance down to the beach and throughout the event area. Our site features over 2200 Christmas lights. 40 colored Christmas luminarias line the entrance. 600 icicle lights and a 100 bulb lighted cross outline the food area. Additionally, 4 neon signs silhouette the area. A small lighted Christmas tree features 6 lighted presents. A kids maze is constructed using over 1400 colored lights. Food is served from a 15’ by 12’ shelter operated by church volunteers. We usually serve at least 7 cookers/croc pots of pozole, chili, and stew, 400+ (34 dozen) homemade cookies, 300 small bottled waters, and over 100 cups of coffee. A firepit with chairs provides a wa
