Ushers have the responsibility of making people feel welcome as they enter and leave the sanctuary for service by greeting, holding the door open, assisting with seating, and managing the distribution of any special service item. The ushers also manage the sanctuary by stocking the backs of chairs with items, keeping tissues in stock, and taking a headcount.
